The key to having a fun day of hiking is being prepared and here we are going to share some of the things we’ve learned from our past experiences. Here are some import things to consider when preparing for a day hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Depending on the weather and how much it will fluctuate that day you may want to bring an extra layer or two. It’s always a good idea to check the weather for the forecast so you know what to expect and how to dress. When you start to warm up you can always peel a layer off and throw it in your backpack. It’s always best to choose pieces that are breathable and lightweight such as sport bras, tanks tops, hoodies T-shirts, shorts, joggers or leggings. Materials like Merino Wool, Bamboo and Tencel are naturally breathable, moisture wicking and made of natural sources. We feel that there isn’t any plastic in nature, why wear it when you go hiking in nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Knowing how to prepare your wardrobe and dress for a summer hike is really quite simple. Weather it’s a short one hour hike to full day hike. Knowing the weather and temperature before you go can be a big asset. If you like an early start it’s usually cooler in early morning and you may feel tempted to dress warmer. Depending on how intense your hike is your body is likely to heat up very quickly. Don’t bring a big jacket or hoodie, as you’re likely to warm up quickly. Instead bring something relatively lightweight as you’ll likely to put in your back pack or tie it around you waist 20-30 minutes in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you can bare the crisp cool morning air leave you hoodie in the car or bring a pack so you can carry your hoodie there along with some snacks or lunch for when you reach the view at the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If it’s going to be hot wear a sports bra, crop top or lightweight T-shirt depending on your style. For bottoms choose a comfortable short relaxed or fitted, whatever you’re feeling for the day. On cooler days you may want to go for leggings but most summer hikes are more comfortable in shorts. We feel natural fibers are always best, We like bamboo, tencel or merino wool because they are naturally breathable, will not irritate our skin and don’t smell when you sweat in them a little. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Choosing the best sports bra for your hike will have a few key variables for optimal comfort. One thing to consider is how much support you need. For more support then look for a hiking bra with a wider shoulder straps, generally they offer more support. On the other hand if you don’t need a lot of support choose a lightweight hiking bra for warmer days. A bra with thinner shoulder straps with less coverage or for even try hiking in a bralette or bikini top. Fabrics like bamboo, tencel and merino wool are natural fibers and are Eco-friendly. They are also breathable, antibacterial, non toxic and won’t cause chafing like the synthetic bras. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Choosing the right hiking footwear depends on several factors, such as the type and length of your hike, the weight of your pack, the weather and conditions of the area, and your personal preference. Generally, you want to choose the lightest and most comfortable shoe or boot that can also provide the needed support and stability for your intended hiking style. Hiking shoes are low-cut and flexible, suitable for day hikes or light backpacking. Hiking boots are mid- to high-cut and offer more durability, protection, and traction on rough, rocky, or wet terrain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Some hiking boots are also waterproof and insulated, which can be useful in cold or wet environments but likely won’t breath well. If you are hiking on warmer days look for hiking shoes or boots made from natural fibres as they will likely breathe better and be more comfortable. However, hiking boots are also heavier and require more break-in time than hiking shoes, so you should consider the trade-offs carefully before making your decision<\/p>\n\n\n\n The outsole is the part of the hiking footwear that directly interacts with the trail and provides traction and grip. The outsole can vary in terms of stiffness, hardness, and lug pattern, depending on the type and condition of the terrain you\u2019re hiking on. Here are some general guidelines for choosing the right outsole for different terrains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n If your hike is going to be longer than an hour or two you may want to bring a small lightweight backpack. It’s always good to bring along to keep some snacks water and a place to put an extra layer or two of clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Many times our hikes end up being longer that anticipated either because we’ve loved the view so much at the top we spent longer than expected there, met some cool new friends on the trail and spent a little extra time to chat or decide to adventure a little further. Water is always a great idea and a snack or even lunch depending on how long your hike is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This depends on several variables; how much you hydrated the day before, how much you hydrated before on the day of your hike, how long you hike is going to be and how hot it is. It’s always best to hydrate well before you hike so you don’t have to pack as much with you as water can get heavy. If your going on a short hike under an hour than you probably don’t need to bring any, especially if you hydrate well before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you’re going on a 2-4 hour hike and you hydrate well before than 500-1000ml should be fine. For all day hikes you will definitely require water and good rule of thumb to be safe is to bring about 1 cup for every hour you plan to hike. Some people also sweat more than others so if so you may require more water. Try and keep record of your own personal hikes and take some notes on each time you hike and you will have this dialed with what works for you within a few hikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A mid to lightweight hoodie or sweatshirt is a good idea to throw on when you start when it’s little cooler outside.
